O+/O+ Festival, founded in 2010 is a Kingston based non-profit organization that provides opportunities for artists to share their work with the public in exchange for healthcare. O+ calls this the exchange of the art of medicine for the medicine of art. Artists, musicians and writers of all mediums, genres and modalities submit their work to participate in the annual festival (every October) and/or become alum by participating in year round O+ programming. Our network of providers, ranging from primary care to dental to mental health and complimentary care/therapies are also an essential element of all of our programming - offering low-no cost services to O+ artists and thus contributing to literally keeping the arts alive in our communities. At O+, we believe that equitable access to both art and healthcare are essential to individual and collective wellbeing.
The most visible evidence of O+’s work in Kingston is the O+ Mural Program which Wolkowicz has been the primary steward of since she took on her role in 2021. This includes curation (with the Art Committee), planning, production, preparation, documentation, thoughtful decommissioning of some murals as well as repair of existing murals. O+ currently has 65+ murals in Kingston alone and offers tours and educational programming surrounding this collection of public art. Learn more about O+’s Mural Program HERE
